There are many camping and recreational opportunities on this section of the Yellowstone Trail including Memorial Park in Granite Falls with camping and a camper cabin; Prairie’s Edge Casino’s Campground; Upper Sioux Agency State Park, Wegdahl Park with camper cabins and Minnesota River access; Lac Qui Parle State Park with camping and camper cabins on Lac qui Parle Lake, Appleton campground and OVH park and Big Stone Lake in Ortonville with Big Stone Lake State Park as well as private camping and rentals.










Historic sites in Granite Falls include the Andrew Volstead House Museum at 163 9th Ave, the Roebling footbridge which spans the Minnesota River, the Yellow Medicine County Museum, the amazing Fagen Fighters WWII Museum which has the Yellowstone Park tour bus shown below on display and many historic commercial buildings downtown.

Chippewa Village in Montevideo is a collection of restored buildings that have been moved onto the old town site. It is managed by the Chippewa County Historical Society which also manages the Olaf Swensson Farm Museum which is located on the Yellowstone Trail between Granite Falls and Montevideo. Every second Saturday of September the Horsepower Event is held at this restored farmsite.
Downtown Milan has historic buildings such as the Milan Village Arts School . A few miles away , see the site where the first church bell tolled in Minnesota and where the Bible was translated into the Dakota language at the Lac qui Parle Mission, located 6 miles north of Montevideo, MN on Highway 59 and 2.2 miles west on County Road 13 overlooking beautiful Lac qui Parle Lake.
Odessa has preserved its old jail, a fun stop on the original Yellowstone Trail.
Located right on the Yellowstone Trail at the intersection of Hwys 7 and 12 -985 US-12 , the Big Stone County Historical Society has a collection of historic buildings as well as a museum. It is also the location of the Big Stone Chamber of Commerce which has visitor and travel information.
